Programs last between 45-60 minutes each. 
Cost: $3.00 per child PLUS $25 traveling lighthouse fee. $75minimum.

WHAT IS THIS TRAVELING LIGHTHOUSE?
When you can’t get to the Lighthouse at Rose Island, we’ll bring an 11-ft tall trailered model to you. This solar powered Lighthouse is also equipped with a standard 4" rain gauge and rain making system.  Students learn how rain water is collected for everyday use at Rose Island -- like for washing windows!  This hands-on experience gives the students a better idea of how a lighthouse functions.  Grades Pre-K - 2.

"THE LITTLE RED LIGHTHOUSE AND THE GREAT GRAY BRIDGE"
The story teaches how a lighthouse feels when it is no longer needed and becomes vandalized. A compelling way to introduce students to their roles as environmental stewards. Light and fog horn demonstrations and games can be used to show students how a lighthouse works.   Grades Pre-K - 2

CHILDREN OF THE LIGHTHOUSE AT THE TURN OF THE CENTURY
Readings: "Keep The Light Burning, Abbie" or "Ida Lewis."    What was expected of the children? At extraordinary times, young children took over the role of keepers. Abby Burgess and Ida Lewis were just two of them. Rose Island Lighthouse has its child hero stories as well…and it was work, too. Learn through stories and role playing done by the students. Grades K - 4

PROCEDURE TO RESERVE A DATE.

  1. CALL FIRST  401-847-4242 ~ Office hours are from 9 AM and 1 PM, Monday through Friday.  We'll pencil you in and discuss times and program details.

  2. Classroom & After-School Registration Form (Required Adobe Reader)
    We do not send invoices, so please make a copy of your completed registration form for use by your bookkeeping department. We will confirm your trip upon receipt of your deposit and registration form.
