·        From Providence Airport

  1. Follow signs to Interstate 95, then stay to the left to go onto 95 South.

  2. Take Route 4 South (left side exit 9) toward North Kingstown, East Greenwich.

  3. Route 4 South bends to the right and merges into Route 1 South after the second traffic light.

  4. Take the next exit to Route 138 East towards Jamestown and the Newport Bridge. 

  5. You will go over TWO bridges to get here -- the first is the Jamestown Bridge and the second is the Pell-Newport Bridge ($2 toll) where you can see Rose Island on the south side (to your right).

  6. Take the first exit off the Newport Bridge and turn right at the stop sign onto JT Connell Road that changes to Farewell Street at the traffic lights.

  7. Proceed straight on Farewell Street between the two cemeteries (proof colonial people had a sense of humor).

  8. Go right at the next stop light onto America's Cup Avenue towards the Gateway Visitor's Center.

  9. Take your 3rd right onto Gladys Carr Bolhouse Road (just AFTER the little Victorian R.R. Station platform and BEFORE the Gateway Bus Station and Visitor's Information Center).

  10. At the end of Bolhouse Road you'll proceed straight across the causeway onto Goat Island towards the Hyatt Hotel.

  11. On Goat Island, take your first left, and then go left again (make a hairpin LEFT turn) into the first parking lot on your left, which is adjacent to "S" dock. You may also see a white USCG boat and one or two aluminum PILOT boats docked there.

  12. Park your car and display your pink RILF parking pass on your dashboard.

  13. Watch for the Rose Island boat Starfish to arrive.  She is a 32-foot white lobster boat with green canvas side curtains.

·      From NY City and Points South

  1. Take Interstate 95 north through Connecticut into Rhode Island.

  2. Once in Rhode Island, take Exit 3 (Route 138 East) and follow signs to Jamestown and Newport / Claiborne Pell Bridge.

  1. From any point in the Greater Boston area, take Route 128 to Route 24 South, heading toward Fall River and Newport.

  2. Route 24 South takes a jog along Route 195 West for one half mile, so stay right and take the next exit off I-195 to continue on Route 24 South to Newport.

  3. Route 24 South merges with Route 114 and continues toward Newport.  The name changes to West Main Road through Middletown and continues down Broadway in Newport past Newport Hospital on your left.  Follow signs to the Gateway Information Center.

  4. Take a right off Broadway onto Marlborough Street opposite Newport City Hall.

  5. Go straight to the end of the street (the Marriott Hotel and the Gateway Visitor's Center will be in front of you; Newport's finest Fire Station is on your left and Cardine's Field is on your right).

  6. Take a right onto America's Cup Avenue, then your first left at the next light onto Gladys Bolhouse Road (just AFTER the Gateway Visitor's Center and BEFORE the little Victorian R.R. Station platform).

  7. At the end of Bolhouse Road you'll proceed straight across the causeway onto Goat Island towards the Hyatt Hotel.
